I know this sounds odd but I keep loosing my wifi when I (or worse my neighbors) turn on a wireless phone.

I can turn on my phone and watch my computer drop the wifi signal, turn it off and watch it come back within 5 seconds, does anyone else have this issue? I can repeat this experiment indefinitely, always with the same results.

I am using the 2.0.0.7 firmware.
I have tried changing many of my wireless settings on the device
wireless mode 54g only
wireless protection on (whatever that is)
I've turned off all upnp and DLNA in case that was causing an issue
I've upped the radio power to full.
I believe most of the other setting in the adv wireless area are defaults.
I am using 128bit WEP (shouldn't matter)

I would say it's my laptops wifi card but my PS3 exhibits the same behavior

the phone is a swbell freedom phone so it should be compliant..

anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Is your signal strength otherwise good when the phone is on-hook and not active? If so, there's very little you can do other than switch the phone to something besides 2.4GHz.

You might want to try switching the channel from Auto to something else. Maybe you can find a sweet spot where your phone won't step all over your wifi signal.

perfect! that did the trick. I put the router on channel 7 instead of auto and there doesn't appear to be any more interference. Thanks for the advice.
