To begin with 2.0.0.7 looked good, but I have an issue or two with it. So, now I want to try 1.0.7.8 Just using "Firmware Upgrade" doesn't seem to do it. So how can I easily "downgrade" to 1.0.7.8?

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

give youre lancard addapter a static ip (192.168.1.2),shutdown the router , take the power out , hold the ezsetup button , plugin the power , let the readylight blink once , start firmware restoration-tool, upload the 1.0.7.8.nas image

should do the job

Thanks for that. Will this delete all my settings in the firmware?

When you say "firmware restoration tool" is this the firmware upgrade facility or is it something else?

Thanks very much indeed for explaining to me about this. I have reverted to my WL-500g for the moment but in the next day or so will follow your instructions and try and get the WL-700gE "restored".

Thanks again back2basic,

Derek

Hi Derek,

Did you try to use the "Firmware Upgrade", wait for 3 minutes (as indicated on the screen and powerdown the router. After powering up the new firmware should be active. I tried the same and it was flawless.
Before powering down did I still have the 2.0.0.7 firmware interface, after powering down the 1.0.7.8 webinterface was shown with all settings nicely kept.:D

Thanks Donald - this time it worked! Thanks very much indeed. Well I *thought* I had followed this process the *first* time. Feeling rather stupid now... but delighted to get back to using my WL-700gE but glad I still had my WL-500 to fall back on.

Again, many thanks Donald,

Derek

Dear All,

Could I know why you change back to 1.X.X.X? Any major problem?

Best Regards,

I personal changed back because I forsee potential security problems as mentioned on another discussion in this forum.
The User Interface was smooth ! Functionality seemed to be the same.

I wanted to be able to use the FTP feature - but more importantly it was really messing with our internet access. We could only get connected if we set a manual proxy configuration and port (8080) for Firefox and IE, and Thunderbird wouldn't even work with doing that.

I really didn't want to go back to the factory default settings and I still haven't needed to even going to 1.0.7.8

I will be happy to try 2.x.x.x when it is really ready for prime time :-)
