    No bridging in AP mode

    Hi,

I just bought a WL-500gp. For now, I am using the stock
ASUS firmware (1.9.6.7) -- I just wanna see if everything works
    as expected.

I have set the router into "Mode of Operation: Access Point".
The wireless connection runs fine (my client can ping the router),
and if I connect several computers in the LAN ports, they can
all see each other as part of the same network.

Now, if I understood correctly, in AP mode the LAN, WAN, and WLAN
nets should all be bridged together. Well, they aren't! If I connect
a PC on a LAN port and another on the WAN port, they can't see
each other anymore. Also, WLAN clients cannot see LAN clients.

Is there something obvious that I am missing?
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Jean

    Update

    Hi again:

I have updated the firmware to version 1.9.6.9
(from ASUS site) and the same problem persists.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

I had the same problem. The solution is in the manual.

You should setup firewallsettings on the AP-to-be; that is: shut down the firewall. After that you can turn to AP-mode and your problem is solved.

I guess your WL is now in AP-mode. Just temporarily set it to 'home gateway', then turn off the firewall and set it back to AP. Then reboot.

    Hi,

And thanks a lot for your help. Unfortunately, it's still not working.
Here's what I've done, step by step:

    - reset the router to factory defaults
    - don't take the quick setup
    - set mode to "Home Gateway" (it's already there)
    - "Internet Firewall - Basic Config - Enable Firewall?" -> No
    - Save & restart
    - set mode to "Access Point"
    - Save & restart

Now, if I connect a PC to one of the LAN ports, I can ping
the router with no problems. But if I connect to the WAN
    port, there's no reply whatsoever!

    Any ideas?

    Thanks again,
    Jean

I think I'm having the same problem and I'm desperately looking for some help.

I'm running the Oleg 1.9.2.7-7g firmware.

Basically, I want to use the WL in Access Point mode, but the WAN and LAN ports don't bridge.

In fact, when I turn on AP mode the four LAN ports seem to completely stop working - If a connect a PC to one of those ports, I can't even ping the Asus.

Everything's using static IPs in the same subnet. I've turned off the firewall. Anything else I can try? Something with iptables maybe?

    Thanks guys.

For now I've just put it in Router mode and added this in post-boot:
    Code:
    route del default
route add -net default gw <router ip> dev br0
So it's routing internet traffic through the LAN ports with everything else. Actually it's working exactly as it should in AP mode, it just means I've lost an ethernet port as the WAN interface is now totally useless.

I can probably live with this, but if anyone can help me fix AP mode, I'd be happier
