VOIP problem

Hello,

I am having an issue with some voip features not working when I have my ATA connected behind the router. If I bypass the router, everything works great so I know the router is blocking some traffic. I've tried putting the ATA ip into the dmz but still no luck.

Interestingly, I have an old smc 7004abr router and using this with the ATA behind the router, everything works. Again, I have to put the ATA ip in the dmz but it works fine. How does it work through this cheap router but not through the wl500g?

Unfortunately, I don't know which ports the ATA is using. It's a Grandstream HandyTone 486.

I am currently running Oleg's WL500g-1.9.2.7-6b firmware.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you use NAT? When yes, you must route some ports through the router.

But I put the ATA ip in the DMZ, shouldn't that open all ports?

In checking the Status & Log - Port Fowarding page, I see this:
Destination Proto. Port Range Redirect to
xxx.xxx.xxx.250 ALL ALL 192.168.1.125

Shouldn't that mean all ports are open?

It is very funnny - I had also an 7004abr and the ATA 486 did not work at all. So I bought the Asus and it worked from the first moment, but with bad quality. I took Olegs firmware and thanks Oleg !!!!! no more problems.

If you use a fix IP, you should change this immediatly.

What firmware of the ATA are you using?

Thanks for your reply. I'm running 1.0.6.7 firmware on the ATA. The ATA gets an ip from the router.

That is funny, the ATA works perfectly with the 7004abr for me. With the Asus, actually it's a Microsoft MN-700 running Oleg's firmware I have trouble with certain features.
1. voice mail indicator - when I have a message, the light doesn't flash on the ATA and there's no stutter in the dial tone.
2. call waiting - I hear the beep but once switching over, I can hear the other party but they can't hear me. I switch back to the original call and same thing, only one way talk path.

With the ATA behind the 7004abr in the DMZ, the above features work fine. Somehow the wl500g is blocking ports even when the ATA is in the DMZ.
