php-mysql extension?

i installed coppermine on my WL500g
I installed the package php-mysql

when i'm on the step to configure the gallery to bind to external mysql database, it doesn't work. (PHP does not have MySQL support enabled.)
Is there something to configure with php-mysql package to work? like reading mysql extensions?

when you say that , what package did you install?
i just like to connect my web site on an external mysql server.
I'm installing COPPERMINE (http://coppermine-gallery.net) on my WL500g and when i have to follow the database informations connection i can't connect to the external defined server.
