Surely there must be someone here who has installed asterisk on his WL-500g premium, using a flash stick?
I just bought a WL-500g Premium router, and before doing anything wrong or sub-optimal, I'd like to ask your advice.
Apart from the basic router functionality, my only goal is to have a good running Asterisk on it, thus using the router as a small PBX.
Would Oleg firmware the best way to go for this? (regarding QoS etc)
If so, after having flashed the router with WL500gp-1.9.2.7-7g.trx, what is the most optimal configuration and procedure to run asterisk?
I guess using USB storage would be recommended? (which is no problem because I have a brand new 2GB USB memory stick available)
Can you please advise on how to best use this usb stick (again, with Asterisk in mind! - I don't care about other applications right now)
So, to be more specific: instructions on how to mount it, format it, file system to use, how to make asterisk use it, etc...
and how to minimize writes (to prevent wear out) ?
Thank you very much!

look on dd-wrt forum for installation instructions with dd-wrt and optware asterisk.
Do you mean that Oleg's firmware is not the best choice for Asterisk?
Or does it have to do with the usb support?
Or the QoS?
I'd really like to hear your reasons why you recommend dd-wrt over the other firmwares.
Thanks
Instructions for setting up Oleg's firmware to use an USB flash drive are on his firmware page.
Instructions for installing optware are at:
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/FAQ/Optware-uClibcBuild
After this you can simply use ipkg to install asterisk (1.4.6 since today). It installs in /opt (which by this time is your flash drive). You can change logger.conf to output a minimum to the log files.
Asterisk configuration is described at:
http://www.nslu2-linux.org/wiki/Optw...slung.Asterisk
-> make sure you use the "minimum" configuration to reduce memory use.
Works great (though having spurious problems with NAT (one-way audio) - asterisk is now *on* the router - does this mean it is behind NAT or not???)
Hi im trying to install asterisk 1.4 on my wl500g but no success, first od all , can someone tell me where are the right packages for 500g, because whem you install the ipkg system, the default location for the packages does not have all pakages need for instalation???
