    Running 1.9.2.7-7g Oleg firmware, using built-in Samba.

    smb.conf
    [global]
    workgroup = WORKGROUP
    guest account = nobody
    security = share
    browseable = yes
    guest ok = yes
    guest only = no
    log level = 1
    max log size = 100
    encrypt passwords = yes
    dns proxy = no
    server string = goolias_share

    [pub]
    path=/opt/share/shared1
    writeable = yes
    browseable = yes
    force user=admin
    Anyone encounter this before?

    Run secpol.msc

    Go to: Local Policies > Security Options

    Find “Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level”

    Change Setting from “Send NTLMv2 response only”
    to
    “Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated”
    http://forums.windowsvistamagazine.c...post/2062.aspx

    It worked fine on my Vista Bussiness

    Hi,

    Thaks for info. I changed per your suggested, it still not working.

    Just an update:

    I tried the samba 2 packages from here:http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/op...table/Packages
    Now I am able to see the samba share in Vista, with the suggested NTLM setting. File copying and deleting works fine, very fast though!
    Previously I tired Samba 3, as it gives me segmentation fault upon starting.

    i m using vista ultimate.
    after installed vista i was able to connect to the samba drive mounted on asus-wl500gp usb disk.
    however once i shut down rebooted vista i could no longer connect again.

    the error i m getting is:
    WINDOWS CANNOT ACCESS \\<serve name\<share>

    '<server name> is not set up to establish a connection on port "file and printer sharing(SMB) with this computer.

    changed the NTLM thingy already in secpol.msc and still nothing works.
    my other XP connects to the share with no problem.

    any suggestions?
    i wiped the hard disk clean, reinstalled vista. again it connected OK right after vista booted up the first time. once i shut down reboot and the share becomes inaccessible.

    thanks much.

    my samba version.
    samba-common - 2.0.10-4 -
    samba-server - 2.0.10-4 -

    using kamikaze 0.79
