I happened to run into a thread on the OpenWRT forums (a Linksys WRT54 custom firmware) that might provide a solution for some stability problems a few of you may be encountering:
"PPPoE dropouts/bad performance under high load" (by below0)
It might be worth-while to add the suggested work-around to Oleg's custom firmware and expose a checkbox in the HTML configuration pages?
For the record, I myself had stability problems in the past, but *those*, I believe, were caused by ipfilter logging being turned on. I therefore never found the need to make use of below0's work-around.
My router with 126.96.36.199-2 (yes, I know that -3 is available) has been up now with only WAN+LAN active for some time
~ # uptime
12:17pm up 37 days, 18:16, load average: 0.05, 0.02, 0.00
and I am quite happy indeed.
