Device WORKING - sort of; goes to sleep sometimes, only displays color in IE 6.0.2 using port 7776, using port 7777 is black & White if working at all, and Netscape 7.2 is b&w using either port (anyone know a work-a-round for this?)??

The camera has been connected directly to the router and by a JAHTUSB 2.0 HUB. Both working with exceptions noted above.

This camera was a surprise...I bought it at a PC swap in 1996 for $30, and it was a decent camera to my surprise back then. Interestingly it works ok on with the Asus router. The router detects it as so:
Feb 5 12:30:24 USB webcam: attached
    Feb 5 12:30:25 kernel: usb.c: registered new driver ov51x
Feb 5 12:30:25 kernel: ov51x.c: USB OV511 video device found
Feb 5 12:30:25 kernel: ov51x.c: model: Generic Camera (no ID)
    Feb 5 12:30:26 kernel: ov51x.c: Sensor is an OV7610
    Feb 5 12:30:26 kernel: ov51x.c: Device at usb-00:04.0-1 registered to minor 0
    Feb 5 12:30:26 kernel: ov51x.c: v1.65-1.10-mark : ov51x USB Camera Driver
    Feb 5 12:30:26 kernel: ov511_decomp.c: v1.6 : OV511 Decompression Module
    Feb 5 12:30:26 kernel: ov518_decomp.c: v1.3 : OV518 Decompression Module

The camera has been connected directly to the router and by a JAHT USB 2.0 HUB. Both working.

    See this page:

Q: I tried using my OV518/OV518+ camera, but I only get colorful garbage in the top 1/8 of the window.
A: Make sure you aren't using the "dumppix=1" parameter (that is only needed for the "d518" program)."
