Has anyone succesfully operated a 2GB or even 4GB USB Stick with a WL500g?

I am wondering if anyone succesfully uses a 2GB or even 4GB USB Stick (USB 2.0) with a WL500g ? I would like to install Twonkyvision on it with some music. I don't need that much storage memory a WL-HDD solution can offer. 2GB is enough, 4GB would be great. If yes, can you tell me the manufacturer of your stick?

  2. I have 2GB USB stick connected to the wl500g, it's working quite well. I chose to have some 50MB of swap, the rest is for system/data.

I have found that USB sticks up to 8!! GB are available and I realy would like to know if the WL500g is able to handle these 'oversized' sticks. Are there any limitations ? Is someone of you using a 4GB stick?

  4. Is not a (much) cheaper solution to use a USB hub and several smaller sticks (for example 3x2MB), if you need that much capacity? (I have not tried a HUB myself though)

Of course you are right. I will not exaggerate with the space. My target is maybe to get a 4GB stick (they are getting cheaper from day to day at the moment) so for the price for 2*2GB i think it is no problem to get 1x4GB. Nevertheless, I just would like to know if 4GB works and if there is an upper limit at all.

I have a 5 GB Seagate USB memory stick (actually round) attached to my WL-500.

Actually I have two of them attached using a hub...

In the meantime I have changed my plans and bought me a used 20GB 2.5" HDD and an external USB2.0 HDD-Hardcase (both from ebay). It didn't cost me more than 40€ and works really nice.
