force wl-500g to adjust date and time with ntp server directly

my wl-500g sometimes boots without checking time over ntp server.

then it stays on january 1970

it's only a cosmetic problem, I know, but it annoys me

maybe someone can give me the correct command for telnet to force the unit to get the time and date

No time synchro with the original firmware 1.8.x.x

Yesterday evening I've upgraded to official 1.9.5.6

After 2 reboot because of setting change in Webcam Email alert I've surprised to see in the SystemLog that the time had been synchronized with the NTP server: time.nist.gov

Before with the old firmware 1.8.x.x, I've tryed to use: ntp.free.fr that usualy work fine with the laptop under XP SP2, and worked fine with my previous router LINKSYS WRT54G.

An other strange thing is that the system do not detect the same things during all reboot. Most of the time I get:

Jan 1 01:00:06 USB webcam: attached
Jan 1 01:00:46 syslog: send email alarm, but can not resolve ip of email server!

An sometime:
Jan 1 01:00:06 USB webcam: attached
Jan 1 01:00:06 USB Audio: attached
Jan 1 01:00:46 syslog: send email alarm, but can not resolve ip of email server!

About Email alert why isn't there additionnal setting for username and password for the SMTP server?

I'm still working on my own but any help and/or idea is welcome.

Try another time server, if the received time stamp is not valid, it will not be set. Try using a local server of your country.
This could be a problem with temporarily problems
of time-server.

The problem solved by restoring default settings. (Firmware 1.9.5.6)

Jan 1 01:00:06 dhcp client: deconfig: lease is lost
Jan 1 01:00:09 dhcp client: bound IP : 82.230.202.63 from 82.230.202.254
Mar 22 19:14:01 ntp client: time is synchronized to ntp.free.fr


And then I've configured the static ip, and activated the Webcam service.

Mar 22 19:54:08 USB webcam: attached
Mar 22 19:54:08 USB audio: attached

This was on Tuesday evening ("Mar" stand for "Tue" in French)

This line is not shown during every reboot... strange...

I've no trace, but the Email alert was also working after that. Without specifying the SMTP server address.

The difference between the old settings and the new one's is that the uPnP option was deselected in my old settings. I've not tryed to deselect it in the new settings

Things that were still annoying me:
1/ Webcam still Black and White
2/ ActiveX still not working

After talking with the owner of the WL500g that use OLEG's frimware because of Webcam not supported by official Firmware...
I've decided to switch my WL500gDeluxe to OLEG's 1.9.2.7

By now I've colored WebCam pictures and Email alert.

But still have problem with:
1/ ActiveX WebCam watching not working. (see here after)

When I open a browser window with http://my-static-ip:7777
