Is there a way to continue using installed Samba 2.2.12 on my WL-500W with Lion ?
The disk appear in finder but I'm not able to mount it.
It seems a lack of Samba support in the latest Apple's OS, still working fine in 10.6.8.
Thanks
Max

perhaps you need the new samba? samba 3?
you have to remove the old samba2 and swat, remember to backup your configuration file
ipkt remove samba2it's can't recommend swat for samba 3 on oleg... it has a tendency to mess things up a bitipkg install samba36
you can install it with this if you really want to.
a little configuration sample on /opt/etc/samba/smb.confipkg install samba36-swat
Notice the ip addresses. use it the same way as above, otherwise you might have some discovery problems like I had in the beginningCode:[global] netbios name = Router guest account = admin server string = Oleg router guest ok = Yes workgroup = WORKGROUP os level = 255 interfaces = 192.168.1.1/24 username map = /opt/etc/samba/user.map domain master = Yes hosts allow = 192.168.1.0/24 encrypt passwords = yes security = share dns proxy = No wins support = true preferred master = yes [share] path = /tmp/harddisk/myshare read only = No
also make sure that "guest account =" your actual admin account: admin or root or whatever you use
if that doesn't help... I don't know what to do either, I don't use any apple stuff so yeah...
Thanks wpte for your reply.
I hope I can stay with Samba2, I think v3 is too much for my router.
I'v found an interesting article on Apple support about DHCAST128 UAM drop in Lion that could solve my problem.
Not tested yet, but I'll try it.

Thanks wpte, the solution from Apple doesn't work, but the upgrade to Samba3 does the job.
Are you able to start Samba3 from xinetd just like for older version ?
Hi all,
Please I need help with one thing.
I own two routers Asus 500gP v1, both recorded my Oleg 1.9.2.7-10 firmware.
I have one router in AP mode (classic wifi network) and the other is connected to the network wirelessly mode client.
Both Asus, I opened a Samba in this manual. In both ASUS running Samba services, the administration 192.168.xx: 901 normally get. The Asus AP mode, I normally shows the location on the network without problems, but the second mode Asus client in my network, just not displayed.Code:http://wl500g.info/showthread.php?28537-Oleg-firmware-Samba-2-2-12-and-OS-X-10-7-2-Lion-No-more-Samba
I do not know where I can make a mistake. I do not know if the error in the smb.conf file, or if there is something wrong in the section set in the Global Web rozhraní.Nejsem not sure if the section does not set up a Global IP address, default gateway, or. Router IP address and IP address of the client. ??
The same problem I had with a basic Samba implemented in firmware.
Does anyone have experience with the operation mode Asus wl500gP Samba client??
Thank you very much for any advice and help!

Hi all,
I found out that samba has nothing to do with client mode.
New finding: nmbd does not start the process !!!!!!!!!!!
I set the smb.conf file, but again I did not show a place in the network.
I opened the settings 192.168.xx: 901 status and I found that my nmbd is not running, even though I entered in the telnet "ps", so there I run 2x process smbd, nmbd, but there is not.
In setting the Samba web interface I started nmbd and lo and behold, instead of the network has shown everything works as it should and even telnet after entering "ps" show me the running process nmbd.
It is interesting that after manually start / opt/etc/init.d/S08samba, or / opt / etc / init.d / rc.unslung or just process / opt / sbin / nmbd, or / opt / init.usb , so I start nmbd process, but when INIT.USB initializes the router reboots, so all processes will run smoothly and smbd, nmbd, but does not start automatically.
Even when you add a line to INIT.USB / opt / sbin / nmbd does not start, but busy, yeah.
In short, the process of rebooting the router nmbd will not boot, but when run manually boots up just fine.
Very please advice what it could be.
Thanks a lot.
