    Hi,

is there any solution for using screen with oleg´s firmware?

JF: what's so secret about that info that you can't post it here?

TS: Using telnet you can use a couple of programs to download large files without a pc running all the time.

    - giFT (p2p application)
    - wget (FTP client)

And probably some more I've forgot here...

    There is no secret
I created a screen optware from unslung source, applying some additional patches since it did not build at first.

If some of you want to give a try, it can be downloaded here :
edit : link removed since screen is now in the official feed

Let me know if it works. I will then promote it for wl500g in unslung cvs and push it to the official feed.

    Exclamation

Oh, I have been missing screen all the time

However, when I try to start screen from your ipkg I get:

    Code:
    wifismurf root # screen
/var/run/utmp: No such file or directory
screen resizes my terminal (grr) and puts the following in its message line before exiting:

    Code:
    NO MORE PTYs.
Sorry, could not find a PTY.
From strace it seems that the lacking /var/run/utmp is the cause, but I'm not sure.

    ok, problem solved (I think).
A working 'screen' has just been published to the feed.

    ipkg update
ipkg remove screen (for those who have installed screen from the link bellow)
    ipkg install screen

    let me know

    JF

Edit : don't care about the lack of /var/run/utmp

    Working here...

    Hi JF

Here is seems to work on my WL500gx (installed with ipkg install screen)...

BUT as mentioned above, I get this "error" or "warning" as well :
    /var/run/utmp

I guess I COULD fix it by creating the dir, but.....

add 'touch /var/run/utmp' in post-boot if this is really annoying.

man utmp : "The utmp file allows one to discover information about who is currently using the system. There may be more users currently using the system, because not all programs use utmp logging. "

Don't know now how to *nicely* fix it.

I'm getting the same error's now, the following suggestions don't help with latest oleg firmware (1.9.2.7-7c) and latest screen ipkg (4.0.2-3). Can anyone remember how it was fixed last time? Or know a solution?

Maybe this is my fault! With last commit I've changed some deprecated lines in source, but did not tried screen if it works. Now I see the same thing. Plase wait for ipkg update. I will fix this ASAP or revert changes.
