    anybody can help?

Actually it mounts the ext3 drive.

What i forgot in my explanation (will add that later on) is that you still need to format the win32 partition.

Easiest way to do this, is to connect the drive to a windows computer, use 'computer management' to remove the swap partition (the first one of 30Gb), create a new primary partition in that space and format it FAT32.

i have formatted the fat32 drive in "computer management" already and it is accessible by windows xp itself and have no problems to be a ftp server in
    wl-500g.

Cant' use Samba : smbd fails!

I followed the detailed procedures to update to custom firmware 1.9.2.7-4. Enabled sshd without problems, and smbd and smb.conf according to the forum.
I did not re-format my USB disk since it is already a Fat32 usb-memory. Of course, I did not include the ext3 lines in smb.conf
I cannot run smbd from the router . If I start manually, "smbd -D" from CLI, it loads for 2 seconds in memory and dissapears fron "ps ax"

The USB-stick is mounted without problems in tmp/harddisk
    FTP works

    Any Ideas?

Can you please post your /var/log/smb, /var/log/nmb, /etc/smb.conf and /tmp.syslog.log after having run 'nmbd -D' and 'smbd -D' so we can investigate.

Logs are explicits : Samba requires that you set up a hostname for you wl500.
Look for this in the web setup.

I´m not a very experienced linux user, and didn't know about those logs.
    It's working fine now
