must use ISP router, how to make wl700ge work on this

I just got Verizon FIOS (cable type setup) for home and was using the WL700ge before with cable modem. Now I must use Verizons router and its a pain to change their IP config because its tied into the digital cable as well.
So how do I make the wl700ge a stand alone server as an accessory on their router while keeping the ftp capabilities?

When i first connected it, the local ip's were conflciting, as 192.168.1.1 and my computer would default to the ASUS with no net, blocking verizons.

I need to reconfigure the asus to not be used as a router, only for its ftp and hd server capabilities as a mapped drive.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Put it in AP mode with IP address 192.168.1.2 with gateway details set to 192.168.1.1.

i changed those settings, however to 192.168.1.10, and now i cannot access the web interface on the device. I have connected it to my verizon router yet it still doesnt function nor is it seen at that ip above.

    any thoughts would be great.

    Is it responding to pings?

    no, not at that IP
and my Verizon router does not show the device as being connected nor anything listed at the 1.10 ip.

If you change to a static ip address, I think you have to unplug the wl700ge for the ip address change to take affect. I remember a message displayed on the IP config saying that had to be done.

You shouldn't see anything on the verizon router as its hasn't given out a DHCP address.

See attached with how mine is setup...........

    LK,
Thanks. I will review that except that I cannot access the web interface since changing it from Gateway to AP yesterday.
I believe I need to do a button reset, do you concur?

Is it 100% certain that I will not lose HD data while doing this?

    TIA,
    Chris

If you've lost contact with the wl700ge, use the asus device discovery utility. It has saved me a number of times.

Regrading the reset. All I can say is that I've never lost files from a reset or a firmware upgrade. That has been my personal experience.
