are you sure you made guest allow in samba 2?
btw... what is a windows domain?
you mean just a normal windows xp installation right?
HI,
I'm having trouble accessing samba share (firmware included or Samba2) from a XP Domain PC.
When accessing shared folders I get a logon windows with:
user: name_of asus\guest - not editable
pass:
I know it is a security aspect regarding a domain PC, and I can't change anything regarding that, but is there a way to make some changes in the samba config in order to resolve this issue?
Thank you in advance.

I think anonymous access to samba is only working if all pc's are in the same workgroup / domain. So that's no option.
The way I use it, i have anonymous access to samba disabled.
Then when I connect with my corporate laptop (which is joined to a domain), I get prompted for a username and password.
You can also create an extra user on your router, with the same username/password you use on your laptop. This way it should connect to the share without prompting for a username/password.
Can you help me with a step by step guide, assuming I have the default settings on Samba 2.
Tryed to make the config but I had no luck, now, on my XP domain PC nothing changed, but on my VISTA PC I get a logon window with name and pass, but can't get acces
On my first setup I used the default firmware on my Wl 500 gp V2, and I was able to access from my XP domain PC shared samba shared folders from the attached HDD, so is just a mather of samba config ... and I must admit is something about I have almost no knowledge.
Thank you

there is no solution for this?
Check your samba config, I had similar issue and all I had to do was re-do the samba config again. Whose tutorial did you follow and if possible post your samba config.

I see you are using samba with share-security. This is known to cause difficulties with some versions of windows.
I would change security = SHARE into security = USER
Next you need to specify the path to smbpasswd and enable encrypted passwords:
encrypt passwords = Yes
smb passwd file = /opt/etc/samba/smbpasswd
You can use smbpasswd to set the samba password for your users
