I think you do not have any "root certificates" installed, so the verification of the ebay certificate will fail.
Have a look at the ebay certificate and try to install the used CA certificate.
This seems not to be an issue of esniper.

Hi!
I'm trying to setup esniper (Ebay autobidder) on my WL500gP with Olegs Firmware 1.9.2.7-8, but there were some problems and I hope someone can help me out or at least give me a hint.
Ok here is what I've done so far, starting with a clean and fresh installation. I will write this like a tutorial, hoping that others can benefit from it
1.) installing esniper with
Also zlib package will be neededCode:ipkg install esniper -force-depends
This installed following packagesCode:ipkg install zlib
2.) adjusting control and auctionfiles in the same way as described in the manpages of esniper, that can be found at http://esniper.sourceforge.net/ - mine look like this ...Code:esniper - 2.17.1-1 libcurl - 7.18.1-1 openssl - 0.9.7m-3 zlib - 1.2.3-2
Controlfile (named .esniper)
The auctionfile (named bidlist and is placed in the same directory as .esniper)Code:#esniper config file - see esniper -h for help batch = false #set bid=yes if you really want to place bids bid = no debug = disabled reduce = y logdir = /tmp/harddisk/esniper/log/ #password = pw #username = user historyHost = offer.ebay.com prebidHost = offer.ebay.com bidHost = offer.ebay.com seconds = 10
3.) Running esniper withCode:#only bid for one item - bid will be placed 10sec before auction is closed quantity=1 #usage: articelnumber price 200XXXXXXX44 10
and entering username and password yields this error messageCode:esniper bidlist
Seems like there are some problems with the libcurl package!?Code:Auction 200XXXXXXX44: Cannot connect to URL ??D: Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed Retrying... Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed
What have I done wrong, are any packages missing?
Has anyone had the same problem before or does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Thanks in advance!

I receive the same error message. :-(
Previously it was working.
I did a downgrade to libcurl_7.17.0-2 to get rid of the ssl ca-certificate problem
It seems that the connection can be established now but I still get an errorCode:http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/wl500g/libcurl_7.17.0-2_mipsel.ipk
So an update to esniper-2-18-0 would be nice - can someone cross-compile the new version (there are some threads about that in the forum but I still don't know how it works)Code:Auction 200XXXXXXX44: Description Time remaining: 4 days 22 hours 58 mins (428280 seconds) End time: 08/04/2008 17:27:33 esniper encountered a bug. I'm getting the following errors with esniper 2.18.1 and openSSL 0.9.7m-4:

The following combination of packages is working for me:
From http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/unslung/wl500g:
libcurl - 7.17.0-2 -
openssl - 0.9.7m-3 -
From http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/op...g/cross/stable
esniper - 2.18.1-1 - A lightweight eBay sniping tool
It seems like it has something to do with the newer version of libcurl and openssl in the optware feed (i.e. openssl_0.9.7m-4 and libcurl_7.18.1-1).

Apparently you have to update the certificate cache that cURL uses as the default cache is not very upto date (10 years old). Obvoiusly the new packages have solved this issue.
