for anyone reading this - fixed the problem!
was a problem on both the WL-500g and my DWL-2100AP in client mode setup.
went from the ground up by disabling security on WL-500g and resetting the 2100AP in client mode and it eventually worked.
Hello,
I searched the forums, but couldn't find a solution, so am posting my problem here in case someone knows the solution.
My setup is as follows:
DSL modem (192.168.0.1) --> WL-500g (192.168.0.2) --> other machines (wired and wireless from 192.168.0.10 onwards) plus new D-Link 2100AP in wireless client mode
All machines from the WL-500g and behind, use 255.255.255.0 in subnet mask also.
I have no problem getting all normal wireless and wired clients onto the Internet (they get their IPs from the WL-500g DHCP server in the range 192.168.0.10 onwards), yet the new D-Link 2100AP I installed to run as a wireless client can only ping all the other machines and of course the WL-500g, but cannot get on the Internet like all the other machines.
Just so you know, the D-Link 2100AP in wireless client setup is connected as follows:
WL-500g (192.168.0.2) --> D-Link 2100AP in client mode (static IP of 192.168.0.15 - tried setting it to receive DHCP-served IP like others, but no connection) --> CAT5 cable --> PC 10/100 NIC card (static IP of 192.168.0.16)
Anyways, I can ping all the other machines from the machine behind the 2100AP, but just not access the Internet at all from it, unlike the other machines - I realise the reason for this is probably because it is connected up with a further CAT5 cable and then onto a 10/100 NIC, but I just do not know how to go about fixing it - I realise it has to be a setting on the WL-500g in routing tables perhaps or something (as it is connected otherwise - issue is just Internet access)? If anyone has the solution it would be greatly appreciated - first time doing a bit more than a basic wireless network setup and am getting quite confused...
I am also btw running 1.8.2.4 firmware (tried the latest stable version but signal strength went too low and meant some machines could no longer get wireless access - reverting back to 1.8.2.4 fixed that problem).
Thanks in advance,
-naitkris
