I have the Zadako version of Asus WL-500 gP and Zadacom 3G+ modem connected to it.
I faced a real weird problem yesterday. There was some time that I only had used the modem with my PC only. Now after a while (and actually a firmware upgrade to the modem too) I could not connect to internet with Zadacom connected to Asus anymore.
The weird thing is:
a) the same modem worked OK with PC but not with Asus
b) another operator's SIM worked OK with both the PC and Asus
I spent quite a bit of time to clarify the problem, and finally figured out that the default gateway was missing in the non-working case. After adding the default gateway manually with route add command everything works OK.
Can somebody explain to me why this happens and where the problem might be? Or has anybody faced the same problem and which operator? The problematic operator in my case is DNA Finland.

well.. you can disconnect the router from the modem, not just plug out the cable, but request a whole new ip via DHCP.
if you look at Status & Log - Status menu, you see: WAN Interface.
2 buttons are here: disconnect and connect.
First disconnect and then connect. you never know if it works
normally this should be done when you plug the power cable out (wait 10 seconds) and plug it in the router again.
do you use PPPoE, PPTP or L2TP?
maybe you might need to fill in more info, about default gateway and things like that. if you look up the info from your pc, when it is connected to the modem, just copy the settings to the router. might work 2

Yes I did all the disconnects and connects and I can easily make the connection up by just adding the default GW via Telnet. Like this:

I already got Zadako interested about the case and already a test firmware version to WL-500 for collecting more detailed logs. They are now investigating the reason and likely to provide a new firmware to the router soon. (Really great responsiveness from them!)

Case is closed now. I hear there was some minor bug in the Zadako part of the WL-500 firmware. I got a new version from Zadako this morning, and everything works great now.
(Really good support from the company! I am amazed.)
