About WL-500W Oleg firmware

Hello all!

i thought i should start a new thread to ask as I have many questions after buying my WL-500W. I bought it because of the 2 USB ports .

okay so anyway.. the default ASUS firmware (v1.9.8.5 is the one im using now) sucks. At least, for me, the wireless encryption don't work. So basically I'm using "open system" wireless security now.
do you all, with the WL-500W also have this problem?

after browsing through the various thread in this forum, i am quite certain that Oleg's firmware can be installed on a WL-500W, but the WLAN will not work at all. (i suppose by using the firmware for WL-500GP, since theres no official release for WL-500W)


Is support for the WL-500W under development (in progress) now? About when will a version be released?
also, source codes for the firmware is available, is it easy to modify/edit them? what programming language is it in?

I also have the problem with draft-n. It only works with no encryption.
Use a Mac-address filter insted.

im not using draft-n, since my laptop doesn't support it. the encryption also doesn't work with wireless-G as far as I have used it.
yes im using a mac-filter now.

oh i didn't know theres already WL-500W firmwares.. because I didn't see them on the main website.

just a quick check... using this firmware and other installed modules.. i can achieve:
1) Network Printer set-up (connected USB printer)
2) HTTP Web Server (files on connected USB hard drive)
3) Bittorrent downloading to connected USB hard drive
4) At least Wireless-G
5) QoS and traffic prioritization by IP-address/MAC-address (so I can assign one computer with more priority over another computer)

right/wrong?

THX for your work Oleg on PRE10, I flashed it on my WL-500w, alright by now.
Next I will test WLan downstairs, hope it works.

Hi, possible is everything, printer is hotplug and ready to go after flash, Webserver, hmm...what you mean with Webserver, for this you need to install Apache, etc., I think thats too much...ftp is ready to start...
Torrentclient is easy to install, you have telnet, just look for torrent howto...point 4...sure, what do you think, it is a wlan router
Point 5 ready to go, but didn´t test it, cause qos often makes problems...
There is pre16 out now, just test it, prer15 works nice for me too...

Someone knows if there is a changlog avaiable?

is anyone willing to give me direct guidance as to how to flash the firmware, and set-up/configure it for the 5 things I mentioned earlier? please please please... hopefully through msn messenger...
