I apologize in advance, I'm a total novice in linux, and sorry for the long post, just wanted to make sure I included enough info.

Device WORKING - sort of; goes to sleep sometimes, only displays color in IE 6.0.2 using port 7776, using port 7777 is black & White...
Is there a command to see which broadcom chipset is being used? I wouldn't doubt if the newer WL500G's are using the "B" chipset which I believe has USB 2.0 support.
