Heh .. I thought there was a full tar and so I skimmed through 'ipkg list' .. and somehow missed it. Saw your tip, grep'ed ipkg list against 'tar' and presto! Thx for the tip, kfurge, you're the man....

I have connected a 250 gb usb harddrive to my router. My plan is to do regular incremental backup on the usb hdd and I figured it a simple task to set up a backup script.
Unfortunately I'm no bash...
Thanks, I was aware of that :) Trouble is I closed down utelnetd in my rc.local and on top of that dropbear suddenly decided to listen on port 2222 in stead of 22. Still no idea how to change this -...
If anyone works out a fix for this, I am most interested. I tried running a 'ipkg upgrade' from telnet root login as suggested by Marc, but this just reported that everything is up-to-date.
To...
I ran into a problem getting this error message from appweb:
default:1 pool.1 Error: 400 "Bad Request" for "/torrential/dyn_process.php", file "": Bad content length
the solution turned out...
Sure.. I figured as much out on my own, but that doesn't really shed any light on what is causing my problem. I have udhcpc running on my router, but still the problem occurs regularly.
Funny...
I think I might be experiencing a similar problem. The 'Internet' light in my speedstream adsl modem turns off and my internet connection goes down (daily). The way I have been 'fixing' the problem...
Yay .. got back smb access!
Running
sudo /usr/local/samba/bin/smbpasswd -a my_user my_pass
seemed to do the trick.
/shares/MYVOLUME1/__pdc/smbpasswd is still empty, but...
Does nobody have any clues on this? AFAIK, I have followed the kfurge tutorial to the letter, so I would have thought maybe others had seen the same problem of samba seasing to work.
shouldn't it be 'if [ ..' rather than 'fi [ ..' ? Or maybe you figured that out already? When I locked myself out of telnet access by accident, I got back in by putting the minimal rc.local from...
I think the BT client changed. I have not been able to make it work at all while I ran 1.0.7.8. KFurge also said somewhere that the BT client binary had grown since 1.0.4.6.
As great as the 2.0.0.7 firmware is, let's not forget that it leaves the router wide open to WAN side password free telnet sessions (afaik). In my book that renders it completely useless.
Tiwag:
Step 12 in the list you posted would imply erasing the user list afaik. Why is this necessary? I have followed kfurge's step by step list which didn't specify doing anything to delete the...
After "downgrading" 1.0.7.8 stock firmware to kfurge's 1.0.4.6 2a (which works wonderfully btw), I have had one problem which I can't seem to get rid of. I can't access the smb shares any longer. Not...
Dude, in many countries what you posted is evidence that you download copyrighted material :)
I don't personally believe in the validity of using a screenshot as evidence, but there you go.
On...
You forgot to mention the 'upgrade' that the BT client has undergone. I can't get it to do anything in the 1.0.7.8 firmware. :)
KFurge:
Would it perhaps be a viable option to put your work-in-progress up on some svn server (or cvs or whatever) so that others can have a look and perhaps pitch in? It does seem like a pretty...
@Guru: I completely agree that Asus would have created fabulous firmware with great bittorrent support and everything else if they had had just 1 (one) dedicated and competent programmer full time on...
Hope I'm not fanning the flamings, but it seems to me that Guru and Wl700g are missing a crucial point: The wl700ge is a network device. Not a pc. It is easy to forget when asus (and perhaps even...
Has anybody used the built-in torrent client in 1.0.7.8? I just updated to the new firmware and not only would it not continue the torrent I had going at the time (on pause). Any other torrent I have...
That is odd. If this firmware version has made it out to the asus service personnel, then why don't they release it to the general public?
The version number makes me wonder if the latest...
It wasn't working for me (Vista business), but the tip in the link to nobluescreens above did the trick for me. Thanks a lot!
As it turns out, it's not a problem for me after all because disabling upnp in ip config -> misc doesn't stop my Noxon 2 from being able to play the music served up by the media server on the router...
As it happens, I have been spending the better part of my sunday trying to stream media from my winxp pc to my xbox360. No luck so far. I have tried both WMC and windows media player v11. The only...
I'm using a Noxon 2 audio player with my router. I have no problem finding the media server and playing the music found there. Even when I disabled the upnp server in the router setup (in order to...
