I'm still curious about the real-life performance of this thing. I might be willing to spend 250 euros to replace my WL500g Deluxe if the throughput of the WL700g is significantly more than what I...
OK, I solved it. Sniffing a bit with Ethereal pointed out what went wrong.
In the original script there is:
echo -en "get ASUSSPACELINK\x01\x01\xa8\xc0 /dev/null\nquit\n" | tftp 192.168.1.1
...
I'm having a hard time trying to flash my WL500g Deluxe. The good old recover.sh script doesn't seem to work anymore. Once the validation part is done (get ASUSSPACELINK blabla), the LED stops...
I noticed a new Asus router : a very compact WL-530 router. Now I wonder if it's based on a similar MIPS/Linux platform. If so, it would be easy to customize just like the WL-500 models :)
Anybody...
What I'm doing with the WL500g is completely irrelevant for other people. I asked something about NVRAM, got a reply, and that might be valuable info for other people as well. That's what counts.
Unfortunately I cannot tell you. Company secret ;)
Thanks alot :)
Just try it?
I'm currently implementing a system based on the WL500g platform and I'd like to store some data, preferably surviving power-offs. So NVRAM is the thing to use, and it works. However, I know that...
In the mean time I've solved my problem ;)
Hmmm, it could have something to do with the libraries that the 1.00 version includes. I guess I have to either put them into the target tree or compile busybox staticly...Will try :)
Because I need iptunnel functionality I put the busybox 1.00 from Oleg's patch in the 1.8.1.7 source tree. It compiles and puts an executable at the right place, but the firmware doesn't load/run :)...
The easiest work around for me was to add ip_gre as a loadable module instead of compiled into the kernel. But why... I still don't get it why the odd behavious comes up if I compile it into the...
Hi there,
Are you really sure this is all you have done to make it work? I ran into exactly the same issue: endless ethernet offline/online loop. Disabling GRE netfilter in the kernel config...
I have a life, thanks for your concern though.
But if it was as simple as you say, there would be no hacked computers in this world. Try to take a few minutes and read about the mechanism of...
I'm sick and tired of scans and attack attempts on my ssh/ftp by people who have no lives. So I am going to use port-knocking for sure, as I'm the only person using my ssh/ftp :)
For people who...
OK, I just started telnetd from a usb stick... Now edit some script to automatically start it at boot time :)
I enabled telnet a few monts ago with the stock firmware. Recently I updated the firmware to the latest official version (increased stability of my connection btw) and now the tricks to enable root...
There is some improvement though. The Pentagon announced last year that they are migrating their infrastructure to IPv6 and they want to have finished the migration in 2005/2006 :)
But indeed,...
So.. what to do now?
I run the latest Asus firmware and no way I can get ftp working at all :)
I assume it's enough to cross compile a kernel including the ipv6 module, and install ipv6-compatible IP utilities. If someone has tried this, I'm interested too :)
