seemed to do the trick.

/shares/MYVOLUME1/__pdc/smbpasswd is still empty, but...

I think the BT client changed. I have not been able to make it work at all while I ran 1.0.7.8. KFurge also said somewhere that the BT client binary had grown since 1.0.4.6.

As great as the 2.0.0.7 firmware is, let's not forget that it leaves the router wide open to WAN side password free telnet sessions (afaik). In my book that renders it completely useless.
