hy im new to here...

i just bought this router and flashed it before using wifi
to firmware 1.8.1.9
so,heres what it does not:

1)connecting with user and pass istn possible wether wan nor lan
(anonymous it works fine)

2)Firewall dindt work (or im dumb)
(but...when i configure it from windows xp remotely (from the internet connection icon) this works fine)
i cant release any ports not even port 21...why?

if i manually set the Firewall to open some ports eg Overnet/emule
overnet is connected but unreacheble
if i deactivate the rules the connection is fine

the www acces does lock/unlock with this rules (port80)

if i free up the ports remotely it works too (winxp settings)

i googeld much and used the search function ,but my eyes are small now
i cant find a solution

ok..many thx for all (laugh) who tried to help me with my problem

so i fixed it again myself ,even asus support wasnt aible to clear the problem
here it goes:

to enable ftp usb, first FIREWALL OFF (?? yes the descripton tells it should bypass it but it doesnt)

then u have to use fat or fat32,NOT ntfs

router itself will create 2 (two) folders,called ftp_pub & ftp_prv
root is accesible only anonymous
both folders can access by webconfigurated passwords

and whats very importent!!!
u CANT!! move folders from anonymous root directory directly to ftp_pub (or prv)
u have to be logged in both (anonymous & per password) choose an ftp proggie therefore, windows explorer isnt able to handle this....

You would also know that certain firmwares have a bug which prevents the router to create this directories itself. The firewall bug is also well known and documented in this forum.

Uploading files to a FTP server using Explorer

don't worry

it was probably Asus Germany who pointed you to here..

anyway regarding the FTP, it is (yes this is the real name too) a really STUPID FTP there are a lot of commands that are not functioning correctly or not at all

NOFI (no offence intended).

But your questions have been answered before on this forum. And because there are a lot of people who ask simple questions you might get a blunt answer from me or other members.

So, if you have questions and you have used the search and Google and you still can't figure it out, then we will try to help you as much as we can. Look around a bit on this forum and you'll see my point here...

:)
