Hi,

i tested the Idle Disconnect function, but the router does not disconnect. I marked "tx only". I want that the 500g disconnect after 180seconds of inactivity, but it donīt works!

Firmware: 1.8.1.9

Did i right understand when "tx only" is marked, that the traffic from wan to lan will be ignored. I think without this option the 500g never disconnect because there a lot of traffic from wan to lan.

Is there anyone who can help me? Does it work correct by someone?

Bad news, it just does not work. I have asked ASUS and they sent me a beta version firmware. It also does not work (even I switched off all PC, it still keep connection with internet).

After discounted manually from internet, you must re-entry the router page to do the manually re-connect to internet again since you cant simple type the wedsite to reestabish connction. Everything must dont by manually.

I have serveral router before, wired or wireless, and WL-500g is the one I hate so much. The only thing you can do by now is you wish you did not buy it.

I also have this problem, with firmware 1.7.5.9 CR5. It's a real shame. The rest works beautifully, but the disconnect problem is really starting to bug me. I had a 3com router before the Asus and it did everything it was supposed to do appropriately.

I truly love the many features of the Asus, but the WAN die problem and the disconnect issue are really showstoppers. I just hope that a kind soul in these forums (or Asus, for that matter) finds a solution to the problems.

As for the WAN die issue, by the way, I find it a really inappropriate stance for a hardware company to put a button into the firmware to manually restart the port as a workaround. Well, at least they appear to be aware of the problem. I just hope it's not their final "solution".

In terms of the disconnect issue, what I am wondering is what people do who don't have a flat rate and actually have to pay for the time. They will have to return the router, won't they? No good for Asus...

Is there an older firmware where the idle time disconnect works?

I donīt understand why a product like this, which is very long on sale, have those big bugs?!

If i canīt solve the problem within a few days, i take it back to the dealer and take another router, but not from asus!

Is there nobody who can help?
