Winxp Sp2 Upgrade = No Wl500g?

hI ALL

I have wl500g with 1.9.1.7 firmware which was installed via windows xp sp1 version. have now upgraded to winxp sp2 for secutirty reasons but now cannot access router vie IE6 at 192.168.1.1. or via "config" on ASAUS device discovery option
(It did work under SP1)

Have reset router via push button on back. no difference
router works just fine for network , internet and print/ file share.
Netstumbler on laptop finds it but says is ssid default with no WEP.
wireless on laptop also found with wep (settings copied via SP2 network install)

Does anybody have any ideas how to now access router and if it actually has wep enabled in the pc rather than in the router itself .

impossible, i use 500g with 7 different XP PCs, some of them are sp1, some sp2, firmware version i 've tried many from 1.6.5.3 - 1.8.1.9. i have that problem before, but not your reason.

Thank you shopping.
I now have router working after software and firmware reinstall.
BUt i still don't know if I need wep enabled in both router and the pc via winxp settings - any comments
