After a firmware downgrade from the asus official 1.8.1.7 to 1.7.5.6, the WL500g crashed and never completed the upgrade.
Now the power light flashes and I can`t access the router.
I have tried the firmware restore software, using different versions of the firmware, but it fails to complete.

I get:
"Upload fails! please check the connection"

After that power light stop flashing.
I have tried to press the restore button in the back with and without power on the unit.

I use a Acer laptop with static IP: 192.168.1.2, Subnet 255.255.255.0 connected directely to the router.

Please help me out here, im a newbee so be gentle.

well in first place you should not have upgraded at all,
try uploading wl500g-recover.trx or something like that

it is SOMEWHERE located in a post at this forum

Are you connecting wireless or wired? If you are connecting wireless, try a wired connection to one of the four ports. Make sure the ip's are in the range 192.168.1.x where x for the computer not equals 1.

Thanks.
Took me a while to find the recovery file, but after that everything went smooth :)

recover firmware requires establishing telnet session to the router. Use this one instead:

http://wl500g.dyndns.org/wl500g-clear-nvram.trx

it should wipe the nvram automatically.
