View Full Version : Problem with HP Deskjet 930C on LPT port
I can't get working my HP 930C printer on the parallel port.
Everything seems to be ok, but the printer doesn't print anything. Everything I try to print stays in the printer que.
I read an article form someone else who tried LPR printing, which worked. But that also doesn't work for me.
What can I do or try?
I'm using the latest 1.8.7.1 (august 2004) firmware.
Please help me!!
Maybe an older firmware version might work. Is it possible to install an older firmware version over the latest version?
I had the same issue with a Deskjet 870Cxi and Win XP. However after turning off the webcam feature in the WL-500 it worked perfectly. Do that in the management web intefrace under USB. So why not give it a try...?
Same problem with deskjet 710. Done upgrade to 1.8.1.7. because of recent connection problems (WP500g loosing connection to Alcatel speedtouch). The new firmware fixed this, but now I'm having a printer problem.
I tried using the (latest) Asus utlity as well as LPR printing. The funny thing is that after a lot or trouble I got it to work yesterday, but after 6 pages it stopped. Now it transmits 79 bytes before it gives an error on the printer.
I'm considering downgrading the firmware, or using the unoffical firmware while these guys say the Assus stuf is crap (w.r.t. printing)

b.t.w. I'm using the WL500G in AP mode and I have a USB disk connected to the USB port which works fine (but slow)
Got the same problem, only that the parallell port is connected to the wireless router. I got one stationary and one laptop, both I was planning on using the printer, a HP 959C. I had ALOT of trouble in the start, nothing would work according to the manual. I downloaded the latest firmware, utilities and manual (thanks Asus! ) and got a bit further. I managed to install the printer on both PCs on the Remote Port (Asus File Sharing or something) and the router now shows the printer in setup and says its online.
Now for the problem (drumroll): I'm using Home Gateway mode and am assigned IP automatically from my ISP, on a NAT network. The router has IP 192.168.1.1 and my 2 PCs are on IP 10.24.XX.XX. So when I am using the laptops normally, i.e. web, IRC etc, I can't print. I only get an error that the server cannot be found. If I manually switch to a IP on the same network/subnet (192.168.1.1), I can print with no problem. Hence, I need some help or pointers to how I can set it up that when a printjob is sent to the printserver (192.168.1.1), it automatically is directed there, without the manual IP switch.
I have tried fiddling with the Static Route option in the webinterface but no luck so far. I'm not very experienced with networking, so this has been pretty hard up to this point. I feel I'm getting closer, but I must say I'm not very interested in using custom firmware, no offense. Hope someone can point me in the right direction here :) All help is appreciated.
The router has IP 192.168.1.1 and my 2 PCs are on IP 10.24.XX.XX.
Why don't you use 192.168.1.XX for the PCs?
Masochism or something?
Hey, how'd you know? ;)
But seriously, that is what the DHCP server assigns to me. I get my connection from a VPN connection, maybe that has something to do with it. I called a friend with the same ISP, his local IP is 192.168.xx.xx. Guess I'll call my ISP on Monday to hear if I can somehow set my local IPs to 192.168something. If I had been on that subnet, I wouldnt have all these problems :/
Thanks for the reply though, these forums are really great help for a network n00b like myself :)
