Can somebody help me. I have an USB stick of 128 MB, shared by FTP. I can acces it (read/write/erase) I put the OULOOK pst file (of the active mailbox) on it. Now I want acces this file with Outlook, but this give the the message I don't have enough rights. (I made a networklocation of the ftp://192.168.1.1 with username and password) Through explorer I can acces this...
Does anybody knows a solution. Because I want to have access to the same maibox on both computers in my network...and both computers are not allways on on the same time... (so i thought I was clever to use this FTP storage option....)
Lots of applications can't handle FTP connections. You should try the Samba (windows share) option in the custom firmwares. Do a search for Samba on the forum and a world of new opportunities will open :)

Hmm,
IF you spend some time on searching this forum and reading topics AND spend some time in reading the FAQ link I gave you before AND you can make me clear that you still don't understand
THEN
I might spend some time explaining to you
ELSE
Why shoud I spend time on it and not you?
END

Thanks for your reply...
I read through all the items i found on SAMBA. I see a lot of technical things and questions, but not one clear story how to. In the description of OLEG (thanks for all the work and great things OLEG :) ) Ican't still find the way how to make it work. I'm not used to work with TELNET etc. I just am a happy WL500B user and this deep things I don't have enough knowledge... :( sorry...
I tried to do it whith the small how to SAMBA..I opened telnet...but if I'm right I have to edit an file and add those rules...and then? I can't add these rules..how to... I filled these rules in on the prompt...nothing seems to happen...
I be you very thankfull if you can explain it to me step by step... (and I think it's not only for me... ;) )
Are you kidding???
It's clearly written to execute (type) these lines
nvram bootCmdS="/usr/sbin/smbd -D"
nvram bootCmdN="/usr/sbin/nmbd -D"
nvram commit
reboot
Have you tried doing this in telnet session???

1st ; Open cmd in windows
2nd; telnet 192.168.1.1
3rd; loginname + password
4th ; /mnt/ramfs/local/root #/ filled in your commands..
After nvram commit..it took a couple of secconds...then I did the reboot...
After my router is comming up again, I can't see the router in the networkview.....should I disable the FTP in the router? Do I miss a next step..
Okay so you've done some reading. Good. I'll try to make the Samba WIKI page sometime this weekend. I was planning on doing so anyway.
In the mean time Oleg's method should work.

Type \\192.168.1.1 if thats your ruter ip in start -> run , it's not always that windows finds the shared folders that are on your network.

you can do a reset on the back.... (small hole)
Connect with a UTP cable on on of the 4 ports (not the WAN) and connect to the router with the default ip number and you can restore the settings or re install the firmware.
or a complete reset: press the same button in the hole on the back and switch only then the power on...
and again ;
Connect with a UTP cable on on of the 4 ports (not the WAN) and connect to the router with the default ip number and you can restore the settings or re install the firmware.
Okay, Samba WIKI page is up :)
