hi guys,
ok here goes, i need to set up an ftp and i have no idea how to do this all ive done so far is to set up the network so the other pc's can access the net, ive got the latest firmware as of 18/08/04... i bet this has been answered many times before but i need it in a step by step guide ( it has to be idiot proof cos im a bit of a dummy on this subject )
i hope you can help me cos im getting no help from asus tech helpline..

i have read the manual ( when i got the right one ) but it doesnt make much sence to me...
i have been kindly given this link by antiloop which as helpful as it is i still need someone to explain it a bit better

i have only had the router for 5 days and it assumes you know stuff like port forwarding ( and i dont )

thanks in advance...

Every up-to-date firmware lets you connect to the FTP server from LAN and WAN (internet).

The user manual AND the topic mentioned by Antiloop provide more than enough information to setup the FTP server. I doubt anyone willing to write an even more elaborating howto for you if you can't understand these two items.

I really suspect you are not willing to study both items in dept. It's not fair expecting other people to fix your problems if you haven't tried it yourself for real. IF you are not able to get it working after some hours of reading topics and other sources, consider yourself unfit for administrating the router. Please consult a friend who can do it for you in this case.

Edit: Oh, and one other thing: ALLWAYS do a search on the forums AND Google before starting a thread on a (not just this) forum.

Grml

You only have to do what the User Manual suplied with the router says, if you dont understand this, there will be no hope ...
You dont need Port forwarding and so on, Ftp access can be configured from the Web, also for access from the internet side (i think)
