Hi guys,
I have a WL500G Delux. I flashed the debian kernel for the box and i'm booting of a USB stick. All fine.
Then i tried to flash Oleg's firmware(was WL500gx-1.9.2.7-7f.trx, also tried e version), i think, but it just keeps rebooting. Power light comes on, lan lights flash, and 15 seconds flash again etc.
So i flashed the ASUS firmware, same rebooting thing. If i leave it then after 10 to 30 minutes it does boot up, but if i save settings and reboot then it starts the rebooting loop again for another 10+ minutes.
I tried the clean and restore images. After i flash that and then the official firmware then it boots directly, but if i save something and reboot then it goes into the reboot loop again.
Now i have seen with debian that if i try and "ifconfig eth1 up", to bring the wireless up, then something segment faults and i have to reboot. Is this also happening with the other firmwares and they auto reboot?
I have even done a forced nvram clear under debian with dd. The boot loader did put the defaults back, but still no joy.
Debian runs fine, except that i can't figure out how to bring the wlan up...
Is the unit or wlan broken?
Update:
It seems heat related. If i leave the unit off for 5 to 10 mins then it boots no problem. Even with Oleg firmware. But if i then take eth1 down and try to bring it back up then it starts rebooting again.
Unit going back... :(
Thanx,
Errol
