I have an EPSON R200 printer connected to the WL500g router's USB port.
The printer is switched on.
I can communicate with the WL500g from a laptop with a AboCom 11g PC card.
I am using Windows 2000

When I go to http://my.router/Main_GStatus_Content.asp, I see that the Printer Status is offline. (Hopefully this doesn't matter at this stage??)

I have followed all the instructions that I could find in this forum, i.e.
1.> Add Printer, Local to IP 192.168.1.1:9101, used the installed R200 printer driver that I use when printer is directly connected to laptop.
2.> Set Respond to LPR Request from LAN to YES
3.> Using Firmware 1.7.5.6
4.> Using HW Version 1.0

I noticed that some other EPSON USB printers have been made to work so I have not given up hope yet.

PS: Why is there any compatability problem with USB printers? Surely a USB tunneling protocol has been developed where the USB port on the WL500g looks and works the same as the local machines USB port. Perhaps there is a USB virtual driver available which I can link the EPSON to...

Any help would be much appreciated.

upgrade to a custom firmware if you want to use the RAW printing port 9101
this is NOT supported by Official/beta firmwares from Asus

i'm also wondering about this line:

2.> Set Respond to LPR Request from LAN to YES

i've only seen it (or i'm blind) with WAN instead of LAN

Thanks for your reply Antiloop

Firstly, I am blind it is WAN instead of LAN! :o

I have now uploaded the firmware version 1.7.5.9-2

The printer is still not cooperating. Any ideas?

Many thanks for your support. :)

What do you mean by quoting my log? Which log?

I am connecting an Epson Stylus Photo R200 which only has USB connectivity, unfortunately.

I have been playing around with all the settings that I can think of to no avail. If someone could suggest a list of debugging steps this would be most helpful :-)

I initially had problems with the R200.. Previously I'd been using parallel port printing to a HP-930C. Couldn't get the usb printing working on either 930C or R200 (R200 only has USB port of course).

Anyway the answer was to go back to the LPR printing rather than the RAW settings which I was using previously. So use the LPR TCP-IP printer port setup with the "LPRServer" queue name as per the standard ASUS setup.

I'm using custom firmware 1.7.5.9-5
