just bought the WL-500G, and are pretty satisfied so far, only one problem. If I try to connect to my external IP-address, this won't work. It's not a very big problem to me, but my old router worked like charm.I was thinking it should've been possible to add some static route to make this work, but nothing seems to help :/ The reason why I want to do this, is because I want to make sure my FTP (standalone PC) is working (can't use the internal address to test either). Any help appreciated.

we don't know which firmware you are running etc..

Oh...I honestly didn't think firmware version was important, as it is a problem on the shipment firmware and the one I run now...v1.7.5.6. If anything concerning my problem is unclear, please ask.
Just to make things a little bit more clear:
I did try to solve it myself. I tried different static routes, as I think this is problem.
I did search ASUS' homepage/FAQ,google and this forum.
If I have broken any rules, please tell me. I don't want to make a bad first impression. Although, that may be a little bit late :(

okay upgrade to any newer version
that should fix the problem (passive ftp is not supported in the firewall of 1.7.5.6)

I didn't find any newer firmware on Asus' homepage. What's the newest firmware? Passive FTP does work by the way, only that you have to connect from WAN and not from LAN.
