Do you think our google ads are annoying?
Nope.. not annoying.. Just like it as it is :)
You guys need to pay for bandwidth, and non-intrusive ads I guess are the simplest way... I have issues with Google's political angle (although pursuing that subject would be totally OT!) but I guess every syndicate has positive and negative points.
Other fund-raising methods.. hm, have you considered becoming an Asus reseller? :) Given the amount some of the people here help development and sales, maybe they'd be interested in helping you out, though I guess you probably want to remain impartial. Or perhaps you could make links to the specific products you provide support on via affiliate programs, eg Amazon?
More agreeable might be to contact some of the smaller resellers to see if they'll do deals with you (eg "buy from XYZ and a small proportion will go to upkeep of these forums"). For example, the best price on my WL-500G I found was from a smaller reseller, who also quickly responded to my after-sales queries - these shops are often easier to deal with than the big companies.
