The idea is very simple - when samba demo mode is enabled, allow samba to run if nothing is mounted on /tmp/harddisk, e.g. there is no USB/hard drive attached to ASUS.

The goal is to have te Master Browser running on ASUS with no flash/hard disk attached.

Of course, when runinng w/o flash disk, there should be no shares defined in smb.conf - writing via samba into ASUS's internal flash is certainly not good idea.

I am able to to this easily for myself because of I am primaily Linux/*NIX user, but my experience is that typical Windows user has problems or is unable to reproduce those few simple configuration steps.

IMHO having Master Browser on ASUS w/o any disk attached (which is also low-power device) is great value added at no cost for some users.

Brgds,

Ed

Now I realize that /tmp/harddisk is part of filesystem that resides in the ASUS's RAM, but that does not change anything on that there should probably be no shares when samba runs w/o flash/hard disk.
