Bekijk de volledige versie : How to get URL filter to work
Hi everybody,
this is my first thread in this really fantastic forum.
I wanna use the URL Filter ( under Internet Firewall ) but cant get it to work. I use Olegs great 1.7.5.6 CR5 ( which helped me to get my printer working. Thanks a lot ).
I also search the forum but didnt find an answer.
An help would be appreciated
There is no support for url filtering in the custom firmwares. In fact ASUS guys does not filter the urls - they just block the dns queries for domain part, i.e. you can't make http://www.cnn.com/whatever/ unaccessible and http://www.cnn.com/ accessible at the same time - dns queries will not succeed for whole www.cnn.com address...

I'm using Oleg's 1.9.2.7-4 firmware.
I'm really interested in using url filter since it has been a great tool to stop adds traffic bombing LAN hots. I have also detected that by using this kind of url filter the number of trojans can be dramatically decreased.
How can I get url filter to work on Oleg's firmware?
.- dnsmasq does not help since it does not accept wildcards, e.g. *doubleclick.net
.- I do not want to use IP filter (LAN/WAN IP filter doubleclick.net = 216.73.92.112)
.- I have read that is possible to install a module if extra memory is installed via USB/external hard disk. polipo or wwwoffle are caching web proxy applications that seems to be too much for what I really want.
Some idea or hint?
You can try junkbuster. It's a web-proxy who's main purpose is to block out ads etc. Serch the forum and you'll find working binaries. You can then use the REDIRECT target of iptables to make all port 80 requests go through junkbuster transparently. Search google for iptables tutorial and lookup the REDIRECT traget.

PS:To use REDIRECT you need the newest firmware from Oleg (1.9.2.7-4)
