Hello All,
I'm not a guru in networking, especially in hardware routers, so please excuse me if I say smth wrong ;-)
I'm considering use of Wl-500g Deluxe for the following scenario:
connect 2 PCs (plus occasional use of PDA through WiFi) to the Internet by LAN. I have two providers, both currently provide 10Mbit/s (possibly up to 100Mbit/s in the future). One provider is going to be the main one, another is for backup. Each provider requires use of single static IP for all connections (thus, as far as I understand, I will have to use NAT for both external IPs).
I'd expect the following functionality from the router:
1) Possibility to use one of the LAN ports as WAN, NAT for both WANs
2) Automatic switching to the backup provider if main link is down (and switching back when main link is up)
3) Traffic metering
4) FireWall
As far as I understood from the forum, all these things are achievable using Wl-500g Deluxe - am I right? Are there better choices for the similar price I should consider? I know there are some budget routers with "true" 2 WANs, but what I also like about WL-500g Deluxe choice very much are USB ports and possibility of firmware extention, which is not present in these 2-WANs routers ...
I'm also interested in speeds achievable by WL-500g Deluxe, to be more precise:
1) Speed between LAN ports
2) Speed LAN <-> WAN
Thanks!
Alexander
