Hi all,

I would like to remove the miniPCI wireless card (ralink shit :() out of my ASUS WL-500b and insert there an ATA/SATA controller so that the box could be a compact FTP/SMB server :) I've searched on the net but I haven't found any suitable miniPCI controller (ATA or SATA, doesn't matter). Has anyone an experience with (S)ATA miniPCI controller plugged in ASUS WL-500? Has anyone an idea abou that? Does anyone know where to buy it (especially in Czech Republic)? Thanks in advance for all information.

Patient googling gives the answer. Mini PCI IDE Control Module (http://www.axiomtek.com/product_detail.php?model_num=AX8931A&majorcat=Indu strial+PCs&subcat=Rackmount+Peripherals). But maybe you have already found it and marked unsuitable. :)

You can't buy many specialty items here in Czech Republic, can you? I'll be glad if someone proves me wrong.
Although there are a few companies selling Axiomtek stuff, I haven't found any site specifically mentioning the miniPCI IDE controller. But you can always ask them. :)

Thank you for your answer. I've another idea to add the controller there, but I don't know if is it possible/if it does exist - PCI to miniPCI adapter. Or if it's possible to build something like that, especially in home conditions?
And I've one more question - how big can be a real throughput of some device (for example a HDD connected via external box and USB to the accesspoint) through the WL-500g?
Thanx in advance for any replies.

Sorry for the question about the PCI to miniPCI adapter, I wrote the post before looking at the links at the bottom of your reply :)
