Hello to everyone. This forum has been my homepage for over a week, but I cannot find any answer to my problem.I'm trying to connect one 500g to one of my ISP's over wireless. ISP uses PPPoE for authentication....As far as I can understand, Asus should be working in client (station) mode. The problem is that connection lasts for just few minutes and then breaks. When I reboot router, he connects automatically to ISP, and the connection lasts (again) for several minutes. This problem is constant with several different ISP's. I have tried several Asus routers and they all do the same thing. Sometimes connection lasts for a few hours, but at the end it breaks again. Does anybody have any idea what is going on and what should I do to solve this? Any suggestion about firmware version or something else, is highly appreciated.
Keep up the good work, guys...and stay sharp.
Which firmware version you have? Client mode support is broken in the ASUS firmwares...

I have tried Oleg's 1.9.2.7-6b and Asus 1.9.5.0_EN_CDMA. Both of them are acting similar.
Let me see if I made this right:
Wireles -> Interface -> SSID : Exact name of the ISP's AP
Wireles -> Interface -> Channel : ISP's AP channel
Wireles -> Advanced -> Extended Mode : Station
IPConfig -> WAN & LAN -> WAN COnnection Type -> PPPoE
IPConfig -> WAN & LAN -> PPPoE Or PPTP Account -> username & password
IPConfig -> WAN & LAN -> Enable PPPoE Relay -> Yes
With these settings I have established the connection...but it breaks...sometimes after several minutes, sometimes after few hours....several Asus devices were tested and several ISP's were tested also...but the problem remains.
BTW, thanks for quick reply..... I appreciate that.
PPPoE Relay is not needed.
Post your system log when disconnection occures.

Sorry about that...I have just realized that I have wrongly displayed my problem. My connection REMAINS and the guys from ISP's tech support told me that my signal/strength is excellent, but I cannot send or receive anything from the internet.....(and I cannot ping anything further than WL500g)...(maybe this should go under "WAN port dies - fixing speed" thread).
Anyway, I have uploaded new firmware you told me, and, with the same parameters, the connection is fully active for several hours.... It looks that everything is OK now...but I will test it for 24 hours at least, before I said that it works...Thanks for the tip.
Perhaps, there was some incompatibility with MPPE, which is now turned off for PPPoE.

Almost 30 hours after, and it's still working. Looks like new firmware brought me some luck, after all. Thanks again, Oleg. You did a great job with this device.
