Hi,
I'm a complete router newby, so please forgive my idiotic questions.

I'm trying to learn how to use Bit Torrent (client is Bit Tornado) and am not having much luck. I've followed one guide through but found that the setup screen for virtual server is different as I'm running Oleg's firmware.

So I was wondering if anyone can point me to a tutorial on how to forward ports for the WL500G and how do I get this to marry up with BT?

I'm running the latest firmware for the router (-6b).

Machines are XP Pro, 1.5mb cable connection. I have one pc connected via ethernet, one pc via wireless.

Tks

Pete

Look in the Attachment.
The pic speaks for itself, eh?

Port Range: Ports of BT
LocalIP: the IP of your PC-NIC
LocalPort: Port of BT in Windows

The rest doesn´t care.

Tks for your reply.

I've tried what you've said and have also loaded Azureus as well. Problem is I'm only getting between 3kb/s and 15kb/s for downloads. Uploads are 10kb/s.:( which is sad when I'm on a 1.5mb connection.

I've set my local IP address to static and it appears to be working fine. I've attached a screen shot (I'd insert it like you did but can't figure how?).

I must sound like a complete idiot.

Tks

One BT-Port is 6900.
Have you configurated your BT-Program to use this port?

Check it with Azureus: Configuration -> NAT-Test

U're able to set WL-500g as PNP-configurable... just login in on your router go to IP-config ->Misc ->Enable UPNP - and then Azureus will configure itself through WinXP - if you have enabled UPNP in WinXP... Remember to set WinXP to UPNP in your Control Panel -> Install Programs -> Add Remove Components -> Network Services -> And check UPNP...

Reboot your computer and it should be working fine...

That how i've done - and don't got any problems...

Ok. I enabled UPNP and got Azureus giving the following pop-up error:

UpNP: Mapping 'Incoming Peer Data Port (TCP/6881)' has been reserved by '192.168.1.226' - please select a different port.

I changed the Azureus port setting in the config test to 6901 and is came back all ok. However, my downloads are only at between 0.5kb/s and max of 7kb/s.

This is so frustrating. I know it's simple, I just haven't managed it yet.

Tks for your help.

Cheers,

Pete

The joke is,
you opened the ports for another IP: 192.168.1.251, and you NIC has 192.168.1.226.

Actually my nic is 251, not 226. I did a ipconfig /all and that's the baby it gave me.

I've done a bit of hunting on portforward.com etc and Azur isn't giving me that error anymore. However, it's still dragging it's knuckles at 1kb/s download and 5.9kb/s upload.

Looks like I'm not the only one who has found BT's to be very haphazard all round.
