My harddisk maxline 3 250gb usb2.0, doesn't go to sleep mode.
Is that normal when he is connect to the wl 500gx.
I have installed ipkg install hdparm
And tried

-Y put IDE drive to sleep
-C check IDE power mode status

[wilXX@wilcoX /opt]$ hdparm -Y /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7

/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7:
issuing sleep command
HDIO_DRIVE_CMD(sleep) failed: Invalid argument

[wilco@wilco02 /opt]$ hdparm -C /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7

/dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part7:
drive state is: unknown

but it didn't work. What can i do know??
Is there a other way, or do i have to wait for a update.

hdparm v6.1

thanks.

Hi

This has been adressed a few times in the forum, and simply you cant power down the HD unless your HD can be configured with a wendor-suplied tool to spindown after time x there own.
HDparm can not be used on usb devices as usb simply can not transfer these lowlevel commands to the drive.
HDparm is for use with WlHDD device i think.
