I have an Asus WL-500G R2.40 and installed a Senao SL-2511MP PLUS 2.10 miniPCI 200mW card in it, and flashed with the firmware from http://wifi.ozo.com/airo/asus/firmware/mpi350/latest/openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx
I want to use the Asus in STA mode. How can I scan for APs?

wlan0 Interface doesn't support scanning : Invalid argument

How can I set the ESSID I want to connect with:
root@OpenWrt:/# iwconfig wlan0 essid "ehelp.pl"
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.
