Hi,

I am thinking of changing to wanadoo family with the livebox (Sagem F@st 3202).
Is there anyone who has experience with the wl500g behind the livebox.
I want this for wireless functionality. I know I can rend a wireless pcmcia card buth I don't want that ! It's 2.95 euro x 12mnth x ?? year which is not acceptable.

Now I use the speedtouch 510i setup with dhcp spoofing. So it's transparant.

I understood that this cannot be done with the livebox when you want to make use of telephony. Because the livebox needs to have it's own WAN ip address.

Still I think I want my wl500g to be the router and the livebox should not do NAT.

What functions would I lose when I set wl500g as AP instead of gateway ?

regards,

kraai

Please note that the livebox has an entry for a wireless LAN card, it also has a USB connection, a bluetooth connection and two ethernet ports.
So you can buy your own wireless LAN card and just stick it in the Livebox.

The livebox acts as a DHCP server, it does not allow fixed IP adresses nor does it allow the adresses to be changed. I don't know why, I found it quite frustrating.

There is also very little information available about the Livebox (enless you can read French).

If you just want to surf the net with one or two PC's; the installation is quick and without problems.
If you want anything special...... youre in the jungle with a butterknife.

I thought the livebox wireless LAN card is a proprietary card. It can't be replaced by a regular Wireless PC card.... !?!

You mean a DHCP server for the local network ?

Well my tip is only for Dutch readers: look @ http://gathering.tweakers.net and do a search on livebox there. They have lots of info on the livebox there.
