Hi

A couple of my users have complained of dropped connections since I installed 1.7.5.6-2.

One user said that their ftp client (smart ftp) has speed drops approx. every 3 minutes, and then after a while the connection is dropped with the following message:
422 Too busy to play with you.
An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
Connection closed.
Resolving host name ****.dyndns.org...
Connecting to (****.dyndns.org) -> IP: **.**.**.** PORT: 21
Connected to (****.dyndns.org) -> Time = 50ms
Socket connected waiting for login sequence.

(the domain name and IP address are correct)

Another keeps getting the message
150 Opening BINARY mode data connection for '*****.avi' (734652416 bytes).
Connection closed. Server timeout.
ABOR

over and over after the download has been going for a while.

In all cases there is no real common timelimit. Sometimes 5 minutes, other times 25 minutes.

The server has been set up with the following timeouts:
Login Timeout in Seconds: 120
Stay Timeout in Seconds: 240

It is always active connections that are dropped, in the middle of a download or upload...

I never experienced these problems with the 1.6.5.3-3 firmware.

Any ideas anyone?

probably your system logs is too big to fit in memory, when this is the case it starts dropping system services

when this error occur try emptying your system.log, or restart your device so the log is cleared

i've a ftp server in my LAN and 500g ftp is disabled, and virtual server (port forward) configured.

i observed periodic (in every few minutes) drop of ftp speed and return to normal, not sure if same as this case. mine using 1.7.5.6-2.

any idea ? also how to clear the log u guy is talking ? as i'm newbie to 500g :o

btw, how i check the firmware version as i upgraded to the 1.7.5.6 CR2, the web is still showing 1.7.5.6

login via telnet
perform this command:

echo "" > /etc/linuxigd/syslog.log

then your log will be emptied
