I hope to have shortly the WL-500g and will use it with a HP Officejet G85 (http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/en/WF10a/18972-238444-236260-12019-236260-30374.html).

I was wondering if theoretically functions like scanning/faxing would be possible over the Asus Router.

I read in this Forum that USB does not work for the G85, so I plan to use the LPT-port to print over the LAN (WL-500g > LPT > G85).

To access the scan function (not used often) I ask me if I can use in addition an USB-cable (PC > USB > G85); as G85 does not support LPT & USB at the same time this cable has to be unplugged normally.

The remaining option is to simply unplug the LPT-cable from the router and plug it in the PC with scan drivers.

ehm.. AFAIK i can use USB at my notebook for scanning, at that time LPT is still connected to my Officejet G85

and YES in theory it should be possible, but as i've read it does require too much probably to be able to run

sounds good, I will try it...

I already guess that, but if the solution above work, it should be OK

Does any one know if the Allinone printer HP Psc2175 printer works with the WL-500G???

I have the standard WL-500G drivers with no firmware upgrade.

Looking at the web page for the hpoj project, I see that the OfficeJet G85 can work with a JetDirect server, so in theory: yes, you can do printing, scanning, and faxing via the wl500g. But the problem is that this will require a JetDirect server that is significantly more sophisticated than the p910nd used in Oleg's custom firmwares.

And I don't know of any such program (other than the one bundled with HP's own JetDirect print servers of course). I think it'd be interesting to extend the p910nd program so as to handle the full JetDirect protocol, but I'm not the one who's going to do that (among other things because my OfficeJet 5510 can't be used that way anyway).

I suppose that what you are saying here also goes for the officejet 6110. I tried installing the new corporate edition drivers for the printer and I did the configuration for print server according to the ASUS manual, and also tried raw, direct printing etc. The ASUS device discovery utility doesn't find anything at all attached to the Asus wl-500g even though the printer is attached to the router's usb port.

I have found that the printing functions of the Brother MFC-3100c (parallel) and the Epson RX500 (USB) work fine with the router. I have not tested USB on the MFC-3100c.

Other functions of these MFC's have not been tested through the router, and I seriously doubt that they will work.

I am going to post these in the working hardware section as well

I've got the same question as Kill-B last year (and saw no answer)
Does any one know if the Allinone printer HP Psc2175 printer works with the WL-500G???

You should try this..

read FAQ for setting up with Official Asus Firmware, or
read http://oleg.wl500g.info on how to setup when using custom firmware

if you are asking if other functions than printing will work the answer is clearly NO
