View Full Version : WL500g and USB Hub-How is it possible?

Hello,
I have connected a passive USB hub (1.1) to the WL500G and then a printer and an external hard drive to the hub.
I am using the original firmware from ASUS and I cannot use the custom firmware.

Unfortunately with the hub I can still print but I cannot use the hard drive anymore (if I connect only the hard drive directly to the hud it does work).

1. Anybody knows how to fix this?

2. How the Asus firmware can distinguish the various USB ports? After all the router was made with only one USB ... ?

1) Probably the harddisk and printer together require too much power from the USB bus. Try again with an external powered USB hub and it will probably work fine.

2) Every USB device has it's own unique ID. Furthermore USB uses several ID's to distinct various types of USB devices, but if you want to know exactly see:

is your harddrive external powered ?
