Hi,
I just bought the wl500G. Added an USB drive to the router, upgraded to firmware 1.9.2.7.5a. All went well and in the new webconfigurator I checked "Enable Samba Demo mode". I rebooted the router. Then I want to map a network drive for the USB disk in the windows xplorer. So type in the "Map network drive" dialog box:

Drive: Z
Folder\\192.168.1.1\share

After a timeout ("attempting to connect to ....") I get an error message: "The specified server cannot perform the requested operation". No login box or whatever.

I guess I need to change some extra settings...?

Have you assigned LAN hostname to wl500g?

Yep. Quick Setup - Hostname was blank, has a value now.
