Thanks to this forum, I'm getting a WL-500g (or gx) soon.

I still have a few questions before I start.

I intend to share my internet connection with neighbors thru the LAN ports, while I'm going to use the LAN for my desktop and the Wireless for my notebook.

How can I secure my computers from their computers in the LAN and the WIFI network?

Should I enable DHCP or should I use fix IPs instead? Or, can I control their access thru usernames and passwords, is this possible?

Thanks.

I suppose the answers are in the direction of Radius servers (authentication and user management??) and Wondershaper (so they don't suck all the bandwidth with porn and downloads). But for a handful of users, would this not be just too much?

At lan side, as long as you not specify to share your computer or files, they are not accessible from others.
At Wifi you could use common web key + mac adress filtering + hidden SSID key-(others cant see your wifi.)

For firmware I don't know. But latest firmwares are generally the best. :p
