Bekijk de volledige versie : WL500G sometimes reboots
hi all,
since the beginning I'm experiencing strange problems with our WL500g. It connects and I can use the internet on the pc's . nothing strange. but at random times the router reboots. some times it reboots after 3 days at a random time, but sometimes 2 times an hour... What is wrong and what can I do about it?

Oleg is too discrete, he likely meant: Upgrade to HIS latest firmware (1.9.2.7-CR5a)

hm well changed topic title, as your unit is not in a reboot loop as the title said
anyway are you hurt by the fact it reboots so now and then? if not, just live with it
well today it was a disaster. every 15 minutes it rebooted. only 1 time it worked for 30 mins of more.
please note that I have this problem EVERY day and that I can't do anything 'normal' on the internet. online gaming is impossible.
Jeehaa, you are not giving much info. Have you already tried the latest firmware from Oleg?
have it installed for about 1 hour but nothing happened sofar. 've tried almost all the firmwares except those from oleg. but why doesn't it work with the official firmwares
Read Known Bugs section in the FAQ.
Well, I have no longer term experiences with the original Asus FW's because of the known bootloader issue on the WL500gx but reading this forum my understanding is that the Oleg firmwares are quite stable.
So if I were you I would give that on really a go. In addition you may also appreciate other features it has like samba & telnet for instance

kwenie, bootloader should be upgraded separately, and once upgraded you could still use ASUS firmware, as bootloader comes from ASUS.
Hi Oleg, just a few lines always seem to leave room for misunderstandings.
From my perspective, once I started tweaking my brand new Asus anyway it was a logical course of action to also upgrade the FW, which explains my limited experience with original asus FW (are there any reasons to use these ;) )
Obviously bootloader & FW have no direct relation as you've indicated
